Drag and Drop Files to Upload
A new feature in WordPress allows you to drag and drop images, videos, music and other media files onto the post or page that you want to add them to. You don't need to do any browsing or clicking to upload the media content. Simply drag the selected files and drop them over the open article window. The article window will indicate the upload by changing colour. As soon as you drop the files, the upload will begin, showing you the upload progress.
Audio and Video Playlists
Making image galleries in WordPress is a cakewalk. Making audio or video playlists is as simple. The video playlist will allow you to select multiple videos and group them together in a single playlist, so that you can display the list in a post or page. When a user clicks on the video name, the common video area will display the video. The same applies to music and audio playlists. When a visitor clicks on the audio piece, the track will start playing and the audio controls will be visible above the playlist.
Update Pings
So you want to announce to everyone that you have made an update to your website? WordPress allows you to do that automatically using the Update Services option in the Settings. The WordPress support site describes this feature as follows:
"WordPress automatically notifies popular Update Services that you've updated your blog by sending a XML-RPC ping each time you create or update a post. In turn, Update Services process the ping and updates their proprietary indices with your update. Now people browsing sites like Technorati or Sphere can find your most recent posts!"
Isn't that great? Now you don't need to keep putting out notifications and waiting for people to notice the changes. If they use any of these services, they will automatically be notified that your blog is being actively improved.
